Wordpool Family Day...

Hazel, who facilitates writing for wellbeing writes; At the Wordpool Family Day in Stanley Park, the Arts for Health corner invited children to become the authors of their own animal book, the models and words created by the Back on Track groups over the last few weeks providing inspiration.  Stories teemed out – Bill the wandering cat, Fernando the wolf waiting for a moon, the rabbit who got lost playing hide and seek. It was clear we’re very good at coming up with solutions from an early age, as even the littlest children dictating their stories out loud solved every problem!

Vanessa visual artist writes; The day began a little overcast, but soon brightened up with a gentle breeze.
I began putting the Giraffe in the shade of a tree in our allocated spot, only to realise, once I stood back to admire it that it was a little lost in the shadows of the trees, although it looked great nibbling on a low branch.
Having moved out into the sun, we spread out the map islands that we’d made in the last session with Hazel, and positioned our animals on and around the area. They looked great, and straight away attracted the attention of passers by.

We spread a blanket with my workshop materials, and Hazel set up a couple of deck chairs adjacent for her writing workshop.Pretty much as soon as the briefing talk happened at the cafe, we had a constant stream of people coming to look and joining us to make little creatures and to write.
The sun continued to shine. A kind person lent me her hat while she was off looking at other installations. I must have looked like I was overheating!

The feedback was fabulous and some highly imaginative things got made and proudly taken home.
Several people commented on what a brilliant day it was and always is and how they look forward to coming.A few remembered me from other years and reminisced about past themes.
I thought the day a great success and was proud to be part of it.

Thank you everyone involved!
